SNMMI 2016 molecular imaging technologies introductions

Watch Dr. H. Benamer, Interventional Cardiologist from the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud, Massy (France), describe the benefits of using PCI ASSIST to guide bifurcation T-stenting procedures.

Healthcare providers struggle to keep up with new equipment functionalities, protocols and procedures as well as continuous regulations and compliance requirements. Training challenges include increased staff workloads and hospital admissions, and time and budget constraints. As part of its goal to reach more than 2 million health professionals with training by 2020, GE Healthcare will introduce Virtual Onsite Training at RSNA. This interactive mobile telepresence device connects healthcare providers with a live, remotely-based training expert when it fits into the provider’s schedule. The wifi-enabled mobile device replicates face-to-face training through an attached monitor for two-way communication, and can be moved around within the healthcare provider’s facility to accommodate multiple departments. It is being offered as a flexible training option that supports the learning continuum after initial on-site training, efficiently building staff competencies and enabling clinical confidence.

In this virtual panel discussion, learn how a top academic department of orthopedic surgery and a leading orthopedic center in the US are using GE’s VolumeRAD* Digital Tomosynthesis. They are bringing 3D imaging into the radiography room and are successfully resolving inconclusive x-rays “here and now”, with a cost-effective technology and with minimal added radiation.
Visit www.gehealthcare.com/VolumeRAD to find out more.
Panelists:
• Dr John Carrino, Vice Chairman of Radiology, Department of Radiology and Imaging at the Hospital of Special Surgery in New York, NY leads the panel.
• Dr David Quinn, Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon at the Capital Region Orthopaedics, Albany, NY discusses three upper extremity cases.
• Dr Samir Mehta, Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma & Fracture Service and Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania presents 2 fracture cases that involve hardware.
• John Sabol, PhD, Chief Scientist, GE Healthcare Global Research explains the physics behind the modality and provides a dose comparison of VolumeRAD vs plain X-rays and CT.
Highlights:
00:00 Dr Carrino - Introductions, terms & terminology.
02:50 Dr Quinn - The benefits of VolumeRAD in his practice at Capital Region Orthopaedics.
06:10 Dr Quinn - Case #1, Suspected clavicle fracture.
08:04 Dr Quinn - Case #2, Interarticular distal radius fracture assessment.
